General Usage
Schedule Editor
This is the heart and soul of Chequerd. All classes you have selected in 'My Classes' will be available here under Classes. Click on them on the bar to the right to show them in the editor. If a class has more than one meeting time, you may drag and drop it between the different slots. Such classes will fade slightly when your mouse is above them, to indicate draggability.
Note that to move a class while dragging, your cursor must be within the dotted lines of the new time
By default we ignore conflicts, as the feature is proving to be somewhat buggy as of early fall '09. However, to reenable the feature simply uncheck the Conflicts box in the gray bar
To pull up an interactive display to see descriptions of classes available, check the Descriptions box. A floating panel will appear, and you can resize it by grabbing the gray handle in the lower right corner. The description will switch to whichever class name your mouse last hovered over. To hide it just uncheck the box.
To save a schedule, simply click the save button on the sidebar, under Schedules. Here you can switch between your saved schedules and delete them. You can view all of them at once by clicking see all.
Finally, clicking the calendar icon under Export will allow you to download an iCalendar file that you can import into Google Calendar, iCal, or Outlook.
My Schedules
Here you can see all your saved schedules. If you have enabled sharing, your link will be available here. Only schedules which are checked will appear.
For each schedule, clicking the title allows you to rename the schedule.
Where do I print my schedule?
If it is saved, you can print it from the My Schedules page (click see all... from the Schedule Editor page), and select view large under the schedule you want to print. The page that pops up will have a printable version of your schedule.
Alternatively, you could print it directly from the schedule page - all the clutter will vanish when you print it, and you'll have a nice printed version you can bring with you or take to class. To hide times or rooms on the printed schedule, just uncheck the relevant boxes on the Schedule page.
Note: to print the color on the schedule, make sure your browser's print settings are correct
My saved schedules have disappeared!
Try adding and removing a class from the Classes page, if that doesn't work you may need to recreate your schedules. We had a pretty significant bug the evening of 4/2, and while we tried to update everyone's schedules to fix it, we're not perfect, and may have missed you. Sorry if that happened! Hopefully these will become rarer as we iron out the kinks.
Hey, why don't you have (insert class here) on the roster?
We keep our course roster in sync with Cornell's official roster. Cornell continually updates the roster, so as soon as Cornell puts it up, we'll grab it and put it on Chequerd too.
The dragging classes around is cool, but I can't get it to work.
Dragging classes on the schedule should be mostly bug-free. Before submitting a bug report to us, please check to see if one the following is the case:
1) The class is only offered at one time, and therefore cannot be dragged anywhere.
2) You are trying to drag the class to a place where it would overlap another class.
3) The class meets multiple days per week, so even though one day fits in a new spot, the other days may not.
4) The class sections do not currently have any times associated with them (because Cornell didn't fully update it yet) and therefore does not appear on the schedule page.
Why do things look squarish on mine and more rounded on my friend's computer??
It's probably because you're using Internet Explorer. For the best experience, use Firefox, Safari, or Chrome. It takes a lot more time to make things look nice in IE, and so we don't.
